Education Assistance |
|
| |
Through our education assistance scheme primary and high school children are eligible to receive assistance in the areas of bus fares, books, school fees, uniforms and stationary. Without the provision of these many families simply could not afford to send their children to school.
Access to education is a universal right and Gold Foundation aims to increase accessibility to education for the underprivileged children of our local area.
Since January 2008 over 280 school children covering 17 local schools have received some sort of education assistance through Gold Foundation.
Our Education Assistance scheme has been funded through a variety of sources including local fund raised money
(Tavua Gold Town Carnival), SAHARA Education Trust Fund - Fiji and individual local and international donors whom provide one on-one-sponsorship. |

| Emergency Relief |
| |
When Gold Foundation opened its doors, we were astounded at the amount of people finding themselves destitute and unable to put food on the table and coming to us for help. Although Gold Foundation strongly believes in self sufficiency and that people cannot depend on hand outs, we also believe that many families due to illness, unemployment or other unforeseen circumstances find themselves unable to survive.
It is for this reason that Gold Foundation provides food parcels on a case by case basis, whilst assisting the family to regain independence .Having extra income other than for the bare necessities for many families in Tavua is simply a dream and when possible Gold Foundation distributes donated second hand clothing to those in need.
Clothing to date has been donated to Gold Foundation by local community members and through the Bayly Trust of Fiji. |

| Family and Housing Assistance |

Our Family Assistance Schemes incorporates food, clothing and education assistance whilst we provide support for those families in gaining access to employment or government welfare and medical services. In many circumstances, the lack of education for many rural and remote based families presents a barrier in dealing with bureaucratic institutions and accessing available services.
In certain circumstances we accompany our clients to government offices and medical appointments to provide advocacy and support and will undertake regular field visits to families that have an ongoing relationship with Gold Foundation.Gold Foundation has also undertaken fundraising ventures to raise money for clients who are in need of urgent oversees medical attention and provided some assistance for funeral expenses for destitute grief stricken families.
When an appropriate donor has be sought Gold Foundation has undertaken housing assistance, either through the building of entire small houses or repairs related to health and safety issues. |

The Prasad family of Masi Masi received support for 6 months through education assistance, food and clothing relief, welfare and medical referrals and counseling. During this time the Prasad’s were encouraged and supported to undertake self sufficient practices, in order sustain themselves once assistance from the Foundation ceased. |

This single mum was homeless and living in appalling conditions until her plight gained national and international media attention. Facilitated through Gold Foundation, enough money was donated in order for construction to occur for her very own house. |

In conjunction with he Gold Foundation and the Muslim League of Fiji a flush toilet and
sewerage system was installed for an elderly disabled couple. |

After hearing that a disabled young girl was going to be left homeless whilst awaiting to join her family oversees, Gold Foundation has facilitated for her to receive full time live in care. |
