WAPA (Women in Action for Poverty Alleviation)

Gold Foundation aims to promote sustainable poverty reduction practices to rural communities surrounding Tavua and as we begun working with communities in micro finance awareness and undertaking workshops in self sustainability we became aware of the many women already undertaking income generating initiatives of their own.

The amount of knowledge and wisdom that was untapped and being kept isolated is what motivated Gold Foundation to facilitate for local rural women’s groups to come together to share their experiences and expertise and form WAPA.

For the collective empowerment of women, by promoting development through income generating activities, the increasing of skills, creating access to training and small business opportunities.

WAPA is now a program of Gold Foundation, where we promote for WAPA’s purpose to become a reality, through the provision of workshops and access to small business opportunities such as grants and markets we endeavor to collectively contribute to poverty alleviation in our local area of Fiji.
