OUR ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

Gold Foundation was initiated by community members who were involved with Tavua’s annual fundraising event, the Gold Town Carnival. Although money raised during the annual carnival since 2005, financed development projects for Tavua, it was evident in late 2007 that there was a need for an independent charitable organization to assist the communities needs full time. Hence the Foundation was formed and its doors opened in January of 2008. Now half the proceeds raised during Tavua’s annual Carnival is forwarded to the Foundation to assist it in funding its charity work.
Gold Foundation’s office is overseen by a board of trustees and administered on a daily basis by dedicated volunteers.

OUR VISION

Empowering Fiji’s underprivileged to achieve poverty alleviation.

OUR MISSION

Gold Foundation endeavors to create positive social change at the grassroots level, through awareness raising and the promotion of sustainable development practices. As a Not- For-Profit Charity organization, Gold Foundation is dedicated to working in partnership with relevant stakeholders in providing Emergency Relief, Family and Education Assistance, Welfare support and access to training and small business opportunities for the people of the Tavua District.

WHO WE HELP

Gold Foundation endeavors to assist the poor, needy and underprivileged persons and families residing in the Tavua district. Our assistance schemes are determined on a case by case basis, where priority of resources will be granted to those clients who find themselves in the most destitute of circumstances.
As our capacities both human and financial expand, it is our endeavor to increase our client and beneficiary base, however for the immediate future we must work within our available resources.
Since the implementation of our WAPA program, Gold Foundation now works closely with rural women groups in promoting poverty alleviation through self sufficient practices.

OUR FUTURE AIM

" Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish he will eat for a life time"

It is the aim of Gold Foundation for its clients to achieve self sufficiency and long term sustainable development. Currently the Foundation encourages its clients not to solely rely on outside support and empowers those to undertake more self sustained and income generated activities, such as promoting the planting of backyard gardens.
In formalizing our commitment to sustainable development, it is the Foundations future endeavor to implement a Micro Finance Program. However in the mean time the Foundation works closely with it's stakeholders in enabling it's clients to access Micro Finance Services.
Working in partnership with the community in responding to it's development needs is a core value of Gold Foundation's organizational structure. Therefore its programs and assistance schemes will evolve as the local communities needs, develop or change.
